Going to Math Class vs. Belonging to Math Class: Shifting from a Classroom to a Community:

We all aim to develop students who are collaborative problem solvers.   Three problems.  1. Working with people is a risk.  2. Problem-solving is a risk.  3. Put those together-->RISK^2.   Fact. We take more risks when we feel accepted and known.  How do we do this in math class? How do we create a classroom that students don't just go to but actually belong to?  In this presentation, Tim will share his journey from the classroom to the community.  (You will be ready to apply ideas Monday.)
