As linguistic diversity in classrooms increases, educators are challenged to meet the needs of English language learners. Promoting student communication with peers can increase their sense of belonging; mathematics activities can be an avenue for this to happen. In this session, we will explore practical strategies and instructional choices which result in more robust learning for English language learners.

As a BC educator, Deanna has held diverse roles over the past twenty-eight years: in French, Mathematics and English Language Learners education. This year in her district ELL position, she is exploring the intersection between English language and mathematics learning. No matter her role, Deanna's passion has always been to support educators as they strive to improve the experiences for every student.
