In this experiential workshop participants will learn to see the empowering ways in which art can reach and support the mathematical learning of all students. We will discuss the alignment of the art and math curricular competencies so that learners are able to create works of art that are founded on math principals and ideas. Teachers will walk away being able to offer art as a vehicle to experience and explain math as well as the confidence to authentically assess student work.

Sarah is currently an elementary school teacher in the Surrey School District where she has been teaching for the past 15 years. She has a graduate diploma in Mathematical Leadership. Sarah is passionate about reaching all learners and inspiring their confidence and curiosity to explore and play with math. She believes that every student can find their place to engage with math if they are given the right tools. Art and story form the foundation of much of Sarah's teaching.
